So, I have no life. And the last post seems to have reached it's pinnacle of comments, so I deemed it time for a new topic of discussion. This will be light hearted and smiley, but what makes each of you happy? What makes you tick? (insert deep drawl in this comment for those movie nighters amongst you) Little things or big things, we can get to know a lil more about each other.

Okay, I will get it started. Five things that make me smile:
1) dissonance/resolving harmony
2) lakes and oceans
3) rock climbing
4) my friends calling me
5) ice cream
hmmm. i'll continue. five things that make me smile:
1. a child's laughter
2. rain
3. cookie dough
4. my friends
5. words
(Same lovely southern drawl...) You were NOT! The drawl is gone now. I hope I don't only get five things.
Home. My house. People who aren't afraid to be themselves. Whistling. Inside jokes. Charcoal. Farms. Music written recorded by people I know. The conversations in the background of music written and recorded by people I know. Hosea. County Fairs. Winks (but not from creepy people). Lyrics. Old T-shirts. Driving a pickup with the windows down. Going to the bank. Calla Lilies. Sincerity. Bing Crosby. I suppose I'll stop now until I get a go ahead on writing a book. I could go on for awhile, as I'm sure most people could.
Kayla... word.
Not "word," Laura. Words. :-P I love them. I like what they can do. I love seeing them written on paper. and ditto on the calla lilies. ask me the the story of my brother and the calla lilies if you want a laugh.
the smell of brownies baking. charcoal that just won't wash off my hands. sand. barefeet. silk. old movies. new movies. holding hands. speeding.
Hmmmm. I have to laugh at you, Melanie, for answer #1 on your list. Mwahahahahahahaha. Okay. I'm good now.
Hmmmm. Here's my list according to the guidelines set forth in the post:
1) Cute babies (and small children in general)
2) My friends
3) The weird things my brother says
4) A good book
5) Thunder storms
Kayla, my friend. I wasn't correcting you. I was agreeing with you. Word as in... yeah! I like your answers. I agree with everyone of them. I also like the fact that Michelle commented... : )
Ditto on the words. I love words. I love thinking of the right one, finding a more complicated one to replace a simple, humdrum word. I love how poignantly they can be written and how a special note can make you cry. I love discovering what's behind people's words. Yea...word! And since other people are adding: serious conversations, a certain kind of breezy spring day, fishing with my dad, feeling cute, feeling wanted, writing a poem that just works.....
This just sounds fun.
1) rain
2) my community of friends
3) any kind of music to fit my current mood
4) my nieces and nephew!!!!!!!!
5) this is weird, I know, but working on trucks, tractors, etc, really gives me a testosterone high :) I love the smell of grease, fuels, and overall mechanical smells
Hmmm...I think I might be able to expose the annonyminity (sp?) of our friend here...
Randomly spending money on books because they're pretty. Marcella laughing uncontrollably. Sitting in my car for hours parked outside of a house talking to Marcella. Talking to Melanie on the phone about nothing for about an hour while we're several states apart. Michelle finally commenting (and picturing her little brother doing karate moves). Thinking about our pod. Karen and Benadryl. Taking online quizzes with Katie. The weird, affectionate things my cousin does. The weird, affectionate things my brother does.
You guys all rock my face off. Good topic, Mel.
So was it the mechanics or the nieces and nephew, Mel? lol I actually just forgot BOTH my username and password...been in the heat too much :)
Finding out the anonymous person's true identity makes me smile! : ) Thanks for the clue, Mel. : ) Also... hardwood floors. old windows. color. black and white. photography. new matresses. my mom. dirk gently's holistic detective agency. puzzels. hot homemade bread. clean sheets (even better when they've been on the line). leaving comments that are too long. rocking chairs. porches. gravel roads. back roads. planting flowers. sara groves. derrick halpin and his crazy game (even though none of y'all know that game). meatballs! Again... stopping. : )
That made me laugh really loudly... for several minutes. My mom actually asked me if I was ok. Marcella. You're so fun. : )
Melanie - good job with the award Doug just gave you. Congrats. : )
Hmmmmm. Just thought I'd add more while I was here. And I'm sorry that these are all related to the Cukrowski family, but that's where I was most of yesterday and several things made me happy while I was there.
1) Ken pretending to smother me with a pillow for no apparent reason.
2) Karen apologizing profusely for not dropping everything to watch X-Files with me and Marcella.
3) Being forcefed baked potatoes by Krista.
4) Being reminded to take my Zoloft by 4 people.
5) Not leaving until around 2:30 this morning for no good reason.
Okay. That's all. Mainly, it just made me sad that nobody had commented in a while.
Well, since I don't want you to be sad, Sarah. I'm posting.
1. (or is this 6.) anyway, M. Night Shymalan's incredible movies
2/7. country music lyrics. seriously listen to what they twang sometime
3/8. the smell of ink
4/9. instant messaging
5/10. extensive vocabularies
6/11. my mom and her crepe myrtles
7/12. passionate people
8/13. alliterations (the above made me think of that, hehe)
9/14. minter lane
10/15. squishy mud between my toesies
Laura, I think that you should invite Donald to join our blog. He comments more than some people who are on it. Marcella agrees with me, btw.
Making it a nice even 25! A few more things...mocha coffee drinks, talking to my friend Lydia on the internet when I haven't seen her in 3 years, road trips with my dad, Gilmore Girls, performing and the curtain call at the end, reading, going to artsy places and doing artsy things, oh and last but certainly not least, would be all of you!
awww... Mel, that was touching.I like you, too. :) Donald joining this blog would make me happy. :)Good idea, Sarah/Marcella (For those of you wondering, that's actually one person because we all know Marcella controls Sarah's mind. You can deny it all you want, Sarah, but we know she's just telling you to say that... : ) ) I'll send an invitation out directly. If you have anymore suggestions for the running of this blog, dear friends, just let me know.
By the way... Donald, now that this is all so public I'd like to offer you the out by telling you not to feel obligated. : ) If you don't want to join, you don't have to do so. If you want to join and never do anything differently that works, too. Join and post all the time if you want. If, however, joining would make you stop commenting...DON'T DO IT! : )
