I Hate to Hog the Spotlight....

Okay guys, does everyone know what time it is?
Come on. We need to pick a new book for this semester. Comments? Suggestions? I've been looking and haven't fallen in love with anything yet. But we've got like 2 weeks until school starts and we need to have something picked by then. Let's start talking about this kids...

I know this was mentioned before, and also that I will not be there, but Blue Like Jazz was a very enjoyable book I could see getting a lot of good discussion and thought from. Or if a lot of people have already read it, then Donald Miller has also written a lot of other stuff, like, off the top of my head, Searching for God Knows What.

why don't we look for theological implications in Frankenstein?

ok, maybe not. i've heard a lot of people who like Blue Like Jazz. I'm reading Salvation on Sand Mountain right now, though i think that it's required for some of the Christianity in Cultures sections, but i've enjoyed it.

Mmmm. If we're going to do Frakenstein we could also look at Dracula. And I'm sure I could come up with a few others...
Mel, Blue Like Jazz is a wonderful suggestion. I haven't read it myself, but I've heard good things. I've been looking around at work, but haven't seen anything that just grabs me. Maybe a CS Lewis... I dunno. Just a suggestion.

I've heard a lot about the book Desiring God by John Piper recently. I've never read it, and I also will not be directly involved in the study (although, I hope y'all don't mind if I happen to be reading the same book and perhaps questioning somethings). C.S. Lewis is always a great option, I think, but there's a possiblity we get that point of view a lot. It might be interesting to read something Calvincrazy! John Piper hearts TULIP, as I understand. : ) I've also heard Blue Like Jazz is great. I own a copy, which I've never read. : ) hmm...

It seems that Blue Like Jazz is a popular suggestion. I'm fine with it. Or we could do a group outing to like Hastings on the first week of school and look through the stuff that we have up there. Not that I'm opposing Blue Like Jazz. Sounds good to me.
Oh, and Laura, I would expect to hear some comments from you. In fact, I would be disappointed if you didn't participate in some form.
The blog will live, Melanie!!! Will you be participating in the bible study as well? (via blog, of course)
Can't wait to see you guys!!! I miss you all terribly.

Sorry I can't come back there, friends. Saddness is what I feel. I guess you all will just have to purchase plane tickets to England for spring break. Sounds like a great idea to me...

I second Laura's suggestion. There is a real need to have the pod abroad, and it won't be the pod without all of you! Yea, at at the risk of sounding sappy...there was one time in class when Peter was talking about how being with certain people can be a rest or Sabbath (I think that's what it was), but it made me think, "wow, that's true," because that's what you all are; a place of love and acceptance and sigh with a smile :)
